Hi all, I'll be visiting Budapest for work later this week, and with some spare time between meetings I'd like to explore the local vintage watch scene a little. Could the good folk on OF recommend shops I could visit? Thanks!
It's useful to do a search first: https://omegaforums.net/search/10067865/?q=budapest&o=date&c[title_only]=1
Thanks for pointing that out, but these threads are (surprisingly) light on vintage watch shops in BDP...recommendations still welcome!
That's probably because there aren't many vintage watch shops in Budapest! But do let us know if you uncover some.
Indeed. Had an afternoon to spare and checked out the local scene: - avoid the antiques district. Mainly table clocks and pocket watches, and the odd Poljot or Vostok. - tiktakwatches: not worth the walk. More of a display of quartz watches within a handbag store - 10:10 antik/óra in the Jewish neighborhood: a neat little shop. It’s down the back after entering a clothing store. A lot of <38mm omegas, some jaeger and IWC, and some carefully curated rarities, like vintage Sinn. Well worth a visit when in the area, nice and knowledgeable staff too. Cheers!
I bought a couple of random watches from a hotel manager of some 4 star place in Budapest. After dealing with the guy, I got the feeling he may not have been procuring these watches in the most legal of ways. Nothing for sure, just a hunch and enough for me quit doing business with him. For shame. If I told you how much I paid for the SINN, you prolly wouldn’t believe me... Sorry for shite photos - best I could do in a pinch
When my daughter was in Budapest last June she found this shop and thought of me...... I imagine it’s still there but I’ve no idea where it is ....
That’s the shop 10:10 that jaspers mentioned up above. I’ve been to it once but nothing caught my eye worth buying.
That’s 10:10, mentioned above. Not too large, but interesting collection. How kind of your daughter btw!
