Hi all,

Could find a few (negative) thoughts on buying from Vision Vintage. I'm wondering why this is, has there been anyone who has had positive interactions with them? I recognize watches are often steeply priced, but then again he is a dealer so if price is high then don't buy is what I say. Any thoughts?

He has a history here that involves more than just high prices...

I have had a very good mid range 5-figures deal with Alex. But I knew what I was buying. Or maybe he was not 100% up-to-date on what he was selling.

In any case, we both were happy to make that deal and I would deal again anytime.

I bought from him when he was a member here and got a great watch at a reasonable price, and he was very helpful.

He had the prettiest feet on the forum. They were in many of his shots.

Hi,

I think the main issue was that he misrepresented himself. I had a pink gold, black dial Constellation that he was keen on and he wanted me to sell it to him. He kept asking me where I'd got it and where I sourced my watches, as if I had a secret supply line! I agreed to sell in the end, he tried to beat me down on price but I was already selling for less than market because he had shown such an interest and I was selling to a member here. I don't know if he resold it but when I found out he was dealing it left a sour taste.

Oh, also after the deal he made a great fuss over getting me to add a positive review about the transaction on the forum. As it was me selling I said shouldn't he write a review about me and I agreed to answer that with a positive response. That made sense later.

I have never bought anything from him and can't comment on that side of things but I just felt he hadn't been honest with the way he presented himself.

For what it's worth I have purchased from him also. Was quite wary because of the sentiments here, but I did manage to buy a great watch in outstanding condition from him. Albeit price was high(but so was condition).

I am still wary but would deal with him again. I guess reputation is everything in the watch dealers business.

I have to admit, I was hesitant to deal with Alex as well due to some of the negative comments I found on the Forum.

I have to say that I've purchased a few watches from him, some low cost and one that was quite a rare variation of the 145.017 Omega on it's original bracelet. He was very accommodating when it came to payment methods, and open communication. On one of the less expensive watches I purchased from him, it wasn't keeping proper time when I received it. I reached out and he agreed to cover the service cost which I had done by my local watchmaker.

All in all, the experiences have been good. Understanding others not so positive dealings, I would recommend Alex based on my exchanges with him.

I know Alex from his forum days and later on from meeting him at watch fairs. In person he’s a nice guy, always has a great selection of watches. And if he’s also at said watch fair you’ll invariably find Simon, of Watches of Knightsbridge, sitting with him.
