Went to my local Volvo service station today. While waiting for the car to get back to me I sat in their café. Opposite me sat an elderly gentleman. After a while I could not help but ask him about his watch - "Excuse me Sir, are you interested in vintage watches?" "Why are you asking" Etc. He said he had bought it in 1968 - give or take a year. He had serviced it regularly and was very satisfied with it. Nice guy and it was a rewarding interaction. He had a closer look at my Enicar Sherpa OPS and said - "I have never been much for large watches - in the early 60ies I had an Omega divers watch but I never really liked it. Too big for me" I asked if it had a bezel that he could turn. "Yes. I got rid of that watch - I believe I gave it to someone". Different dial but same case - in one of LouS scans:
Very nice! A few threads on that design here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/zenith-keyhole-mne-26646.20516/ http://forums.watchuseek.com/f27/zenith-a6621-key-hole-1258218.html
Cool story, and nest finding someone "in the wild" who both had an interest in watches and is willing to talk about it.
My only such experience so far was a month or two ago I saw on the bus someone wearing a nice steel 2577. It was the guy’s father’s and he cherished very much. Recognizing my interest he apologized for having it on a nylon strap and I said Yes, it’s your watch but it looks better on leather
