I want to ensure I have the right level of contents insurance for my collection. Could anyone recommend a reliable source for valuing 321 / 861 models in the UK. Preferably through sending photos but if not anywhere in the south east of UK. Thanks

 

I would imagine most jewellers would do you an insurance valuation. I just have lots of photos of each watch which includes movement serial numbers. Take a look on eBay to see what your models are roughly selling for

Have your insurer asked for written valuations it would market sales data be enough piece by piece?

 

They will not. And many insurers require a valuation from a certified and accredited source (such as an auction house) .... the whole thing is a lot more hassle than it should be - if your insurer needs specific item details. If they don't, you are lucky.

 

My insurer does not require a formal written valuations. I just need to supply accurate valuations that reflect the current market value.

Per posts by @Kmart and myself, you can typically have Watches insured on separate riders with no need to get individual valuations done.

Sometimes there's an upper limit in terms of value before they need to know specifics, but my insurer allows up to $30k, no questions asked, no appraisals needed.
