I saw this one pop up for sale online at Theo & Harris and was curious about it as I've never seen this pattern before.
    Other examples out there?

It's attractive but I don't think that's the original dial. The printing looks too heavy.

Someone at Theo & Harris certainly has a vivid imagination.

lovely imagination, unfortunately repainted. Luminous compound missing behind of the hour markers. Hour markers has pieces of white paint. Wrong hands. Seamaster font looks wrong.

Even if repainted they should disclose as such. They also sell some (supposedly) all original pieces but putting this one out there like this just puts the rest of their stock in question (even though I'm sure some are really all original).

They make a strong claim about “knowing vintage watches”, and then list this as “something never seen before”.

They either have no clue it’s a redial, or know and are still pimping it.

A ton of hyperbole, no research, zero humility, utter BS.

I like Christian's passion, liked how he priced his watches "in the early days", but maybe nowadays he's resting on the laurels a bit too much, and has pushed a couple of POS-watches lately. That hurts the market...

    Passion is great.

    Hyperbole is not.

Making strong claims about "knowing vintage watches" is fine... as long as you then don't start selling put together watches, and either claiming they're original, or just not knowing whether they are or not, so calling them "Rare".

Some days it seems like every one wants to be an Instagram watch dealer. ::facepalm1::

Agreed 100%. The worst part is that they're selling to people that don't know better, so when they'll figure out that they've been unloaded a POS, I bet it's going to be their last buy...

The Instagram post of this watch has over 1,400 likes, with a good percentage of those being from people who really should know better (and if they don't they should probably stop writing about, or selling watches for a living), and ton of comments from people saying how amazing it is and blowing smoke up Christians backside.

You're 100% right @MaiLollo - taking advantage of people who don't know what they're buying, who trust in the the stories that T&H spin, either through ignorance, or malice.

    No it's not.

    It's a redial.

There's a big difference between a fake watch, and a watch that has a non original dial.

I've sent him a message, I hope he makes it right, especially for the lad that bought it. The thing I don't get, is how can you be a "seasoned" collector/dealer, find a widespread model in a "unique" variant and not think about the fact that it is not right...
I'm certainly not an expert, but as soon as I saw the title of his post I knew that il y aurait une couille dans le paté, as we say in France...

    A ball in the pate?

That sounds less than ideal. :D
