Reaching out to the forums for some much needed help. I picked up an old Seamaster and I thought it was fake. Some things looked right, some didn’t. I can’t find a dial that looks like mine. Today I took it to a jeweler to get it checked out... and with the case back off it looks legit.

It looks like a Seamaster 300 from the 60s, but no “300” and the hour marks are different, and only has the “6” and “9”. I’m not really savvy with these watches. Anyway, any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
166024-67 SC are the numbers on the case back. EF134576-8E32-4EDB-8093-E768FF469822.jpeg 914DFE81-F416-4B11-8CE5-49132C2BC053.jpeg 69E199D6-FBCD-4FD0-B263-95C05283F801.jpeg DEEE85E4-CEFB-45C1-9C8A-6CB83E07ECFF.jpeg

I am no expert by any means, but looking at the font on the dial, it looks like it is redialed. Im sure more knowledgeable people will chime in shortly. Also, I recall reading that the circular portions on the 6 and the 9 should not connect.

I think you might be right. It seems off. Also, you can tell someone poorly painted over the numbers with some luminous material. Probably filling in the gap. Movement serial (27981864-I think) should put it in 68/69 time frame.

Your dial is a POS but you are in luck.
Vintage correct dials are hard to source but new legit service dials are not.

There are some really great dial refinishers out there. Perhaps go with a service dial and have the other refinished?

Cool watch...looks like it’s been through the ringer, a true tool watch.

    "seems off" is an understatement...
There is nothing at all that looks right about this...can you get your money back?

ha...I couldn't see the forest for the trees. The bezel may be the most valuable part.

The dial was the only thing I can find wrong. Unless cajuntiger has some better info.

The guy I took it to said it was legit and the movement was nice. He is “omega certified” for what that is worth.

    Currently getting it serviced.

I didn’t even know about the service dials, that’s something I’m going to get on asap. And if I can get the original refinished... that would be awesome.

The watch was at a bottom of an ammo box at an estate sale. I only paid $20 for it....

jackpot. the bezel alone is worth 30x.
I would hold out for a vintage dial...they show up occasionally. It will clean up nicely once you ditch the dial.

The bezel looks like it’s doesn’t fit the case very well. Notice the gaps around the inside of the bezel.
It’s probably ok if the bezel has a black color.
If the bezel appears blue that’s not good as it means the bezel was adapted from a different Omega, the 166.073 shown below. Either way a steal for $20

Hummm. You’re right. I’ll have to take a closer look at it when I get it back. I’m pretty sure it’s black, but the fit looks a little loose.

$20? That is one really cool beater!

(Or get a service dial and/or bezel, keep an eye out for a vintage one, stick it somewhere safe, and its value can only keep going up)
