Hi, this has probably been raised before(feel free to direct me to old posts!)
Why do some 60's model have the Seamaster printing on the dial, some have the back decorated with the Seahorse, some both, some have Geneva printed on the dial etc. I have a 121.001 with just the Omega logo on the dial, can I call it a Seamaster? If not, what is its model name?
Here is a page from a 1963 Omega catalog referring to it as a 'town watch'! I've also seen them called 'unsigned'
    Thanks

Seamaster is the sub brand Omega introduced in the late ‘40s to market their water resistant watches. All Seamasters had some level of water resistance. Other lines such as Geneve, Deville etc also coexisted. As you say some watches had no sub brand. These are often labelled International Collection on the Omega Vintage Database. If your watch has no SM branding then it isn’t a Seamaster (there are exceptions to this from 1948-9 but after that it holds true). Some watches in other lines also had water resistance but these aren’t Seamasters. I doubt the 121.001 has any significant water resistance. Indeed the third digit being 1 signifies that it has none so it’s no Seamaster. Some case numbers were branded in multiple lines, especially from the 60s onwards.

    Hello and welcome!

Do you have any pictures of your watch? I would love to see them.

It is always pleasing to see that my friend Richard has nice catalogue pictures for so many watch references. :)

The Seamaster line was released in 1948, but the branding "Seamaster" basically didn't appear on the watches before 1950.

The watch ref. 121.001 had been produced for a couple of years in the 1950s and 1960s and came in various designs, so, once again, I think you should share some pics, to make it easier to say something about your watch.

Hello guys! I have an Omega reference 121.002-62 which is really close to yours. So close that I can't see the difference... maybe the cal ? Mine has a 269. However, do any of you know were I can find some information for my reference please ? :) Every time I found something it was about the 121.001 !

Thanks in advance and here is a picture, maybe your eyes are better than mine.

Edit: I find a difference ! On the really down under the second, yours seems to have a golden dot like the index fingers while mine has a painted line.

To my eye, the lugs are completely different. One has straight lugs, the other has tapered lugs.

Thanks pointing out these small but important details. The watch is being serviced right now but I will send better pictures on Monday and hopefully find out a bit more about this model.
    Have a nice week-end !

References aren't usually defined by small dial differences. In fact, a given reference will very often have a number of dial variations. More often, references are distinguished by differences in the case and/or features.

Well seen Dan thanks! So on the visual we have the lugs and the mark on the bottom. Even the year is the same between both.

Since mine has been served I can't leave it, I hope you'll enjoy it too Legaset!
