My grandfather was the owner and I consider reconditioning it.

In good condition, this has the potential to be a good watch. But it looks like it has a lot of miles on it. You should talk to a watch repair technician who is versed in the servicing of vintage watches. Ask around for recommendations. Avoid the kiosk at your neighbourhood mall that does "watch repairs"! They are generally specialists in fitting batteries and bracelets, and doing swap-outs on cheap, modern quartz watches. A complete servicing might be pricey, depending on what is needed. But being your grandfather's watch, it will serve you well, and, looked after, could give you years of pleasure and reliable service.

I forgot to ask another question. From my internet research most of the watches that fit the criteria were automatic. However my variant appears to be mechanical. I.e. I have to wind it for it to function. In addition there is no "automatic" written on the dial of my watch. Also i would like to mention that there is no reference written anywhere. And although my grandfather had it around 1960s i am not 100% certain that this has been the actual year of the model.

All the relevant information you seek is on the inside of the back cover and on the movement itself. On the back cover is the case reference number. Looking this up with give model and year. than of course you have the movement which will have the caliber number on it along with its serial number, again this allows you to double check that the case and caliber go together. Please check out some of the other threads here and you will clearly see what I mean. Once you have this information, post pictures here and a lot more information should come your way. Good luck and please reread what Canuck has to say, all good advise.

Your watch and automatic wind watches are all mechanical. Yours is a manual winder. Any numbers will be inside the case back, so the back would have to be removed by unscrewing it. To come close to the year of production we would need to see what movement is in the case. But it looks to me like circa 1960 would be possible.
