I have seamster 300 serial18569449, case back#165014-63 caliber 550 I bought this watch in 63 or 64 in Topeka KS while in the service. The watch is in good running condition the bezel doesn't ratchet and the insert is gone. The band was replaced it is period correct. This a workmans watch and was worn everyday for 20 years. I called Omega service center about servicing the watch and they told me they have the bezel with the insert. My question is should I replace the bezel/insert. I plan on selling this watch. I was offered $3000 as is, based on what I've seen on the forum it's worth more!
I don't think Omega has that insert, but my wife reminds me that I'm wrong all the time. Does anyone know what Omega does with the insert when the early SMs are sent in for restoration?
@whaines944 its a nice watch i should imagine the dial and hands are worth $3000 alone being a big triangle
"082ST1650014 | STEEL BEZEL - This item is not available anymore" Not sure who is telling you this, but I don't think they have new bezels with inserts...
That would be my guess, and although I've not tried to swap one (why would I), I also don't believe they would fit.
Movement number from 1961 too early for a 014, was swapped during service -> not original Dial and hands from 1967+ -> not original 1125/560 bracelet from 1970+ -> not original Pure "original" franken, but worth a lot anyway for parts: at least: case/caseback/bezel 1500, dial 2000, hands 400, movement 200, bracelet 300, probably more.
As @uwsearch says its a franken original but also work a ton in parts, the dials are impossible to find now, hands relatively easy but then it still has the movement issues, I would say value wise $5K but as @Cad290 certainly worth more than $3K
Was this a FS thread? IMO bad form (I had more but deleted it) EDIT: I don't know, maybe I overreacted. long day and all of that
I want to thank everyone who responded. You were a great help! Best site I have seen for Omega knowledge. You helped me to get a fair price for my watch. Thanks again!
