    Hi all!
Ive been collecting Omegas for a couple of years and I have learned a lot. My "gut feeling" is even starting to develop, but my next grail is a "dangerous" purchase if you dont know what to look for.

So Im looking to you guys for advice :)

This is a SM300 up for sale in my neighbourhood and Im wondering to pull the trigger.
As you can see from the pictures the original crystal is crackled which makes it difficult to get a clear view of the dial.
From what I can see the dial looks okay, the bezel and hands looks original and the case seems to be polished.

I have no pictures of the movement or inside of the caseback, but I trust the seller personally and he`s a trusted seller of vintage watches. The movement is recently serviced btw.

    What do you guys think?
What would be a fair price to pay?

    Its a Ref. 165.024 with a cal. 552.

All looks correct except for replaced crown.
    HF case.
Condition is not stellar. But if you like the watch and the price is right, go for it!

It ain't the prettiest, but is correct other than crown. All depends on price.

Now that you know it is correct, what does your gut tell you is a fair price? Do you like the watch?

My gut tells my the asking price is okay.
    The asking price is $5500.

And yes I like the watch. Who doesnt like a vintage SM300? :)

Not a steal. Price is OKish I guess, if you can live with that minute hand..
Keep in mind that finding a correct hand (that matches) will be a hard (and pricey) task.
    Original crown runs about $400.

If you're absolutely in love with the watch and have to have it, I would try to negotiate the seller down.

The first rule in buying vintage watches says: "It is better to pay more for a stellar example, than pay less for an average one"

$5500...personally, I would save my pennies and wait for one with a better case and dial.

The huge chunk missing on the case line, and the dial lume were major issues for me on this one.

You can do better with a little patience.

Killer banana! As @ndgal said, always pay up for a better example.
