    Hi all,

Just after any advice about this Seamaster 300 I'm thinking of buying. Apparently the bezel has been restored and the seller isn't sure about the crown but states it otherwise original.

    Any help would be appreciated

Seller's description appears accurate regarding the crown and bezel. Before blessing the dial and hands, need to have a look under the hood to see the reference, caliber and movement number. Rear shot as well. Dial appears "washed" of all lume btw

Dial lume appears to have been removed during a prior service. Also, you would want to confirm if the dial has TTs at 6 o'clock. I don't see any in the pic. Need better dial shots. Out of the case is best if possible.

This seems to be a private conversation lol. I can't read the reference on the inner case back. Is it 165014, 165014-62, 165014-63
    or 165014-64?

lol any help is appreciated, I've done some research and could probably spot a fake but frankins are harder and I really prefer a watch to be as near as 100% original as possible.

    its a 165014-64

Are these two images from the seller of the watch?

If so. They're two different watches. Smaller image movement is not as clean looking as is the case. Movement clamp screws in smaller image are different than large image which has the same two screws and rotor bridge is a different color than the rest of the movement

Good thing about my MS mouse is the magnifier control to add somewhat macro views of movements etc.

Are you sure that the movement is a cal 552 (not visible on the pic above) and the number is 2064xxxx? If so, to me, the movement is too early. I believe the 165014-64 movement numbers should be 225xx to 226xxx. 2064xxxx preceeds my 165014-63.

Yes they are both meant to be the same watch. Cheers Don I will see what the seller has to say about that.

He says that it's a 552 with 2064x serial number

I've just checked some others you're 100% right the movement number should be later than that.

Thank you very much chaps, your knowledge is invaluable and you've saved me from a disaster. I really appreciate your help and advice

I think it's time to research, in this forum and other online sources, the early SM300s and get a better working knowledge before you attempt to buy one.

That's a nice one: extremely late 24197XXX produced in december 1966, delivered to Mexico, pristine bezel.
