Hello Community:
Despite getting hammered by the virus here in NYC, I find solace and comfort browsing the forum, reading opinions and comments etc. Stay safe everyone out there. My family decided to drive and stay in Long Island for about 2 weeks now to change the scenery somehow. Long Island is not as congested as Brooklyn so my 9 year old can play in the yard and bike on the streets without too much hustle. In any case I was offered this piece that I am about to show thru the Imgur Album link (sorry as I don't have the watch). I solicited some of our experts opinion and so value each one of them and 2 responses really validated my observations on the originality of the dial and the condition of the case. Beauty really is in the eyes of the beholder. Just curious how the others might find this piece. I will include the seller's descriptions of the piece. If the seller is a member of OF if my post warrants an apology, I am offering it now. No malice here just trying to expand the knowledge. Thanks.
This post is also about "A House Divided" (lol)

Btw, the seller is a pretty decent fellow.

  • Looks to have been ever slightly polished, but overall nice crisp case.
  • Knock to the left hand side of the case.
  • Dial is overall in good condition with signs of aging, does has a small black mark near the 4:30 position.
  • Dial is definitely 100% original and has an engraved center track. There's not much out there about these early engraved dials because of just how rare they are.
  • Some slight case pitting on the inside which isn't too uncommon for these older Omegas.
  • Movement is a 351 as expected and is in pretty good shape. Been keeping good time within the last 24 hours (<1 min).
  • Serial number buts this as a 1951/1952 watch.
  • Bracelet is in good condition and can be sized to between ~6." to 6.75" wrist without extra links.
  • Crystal isn't signed but it may still be original given I don't know quiet when they started signing them. Its a low profile domed crystal so definitely very fitting for the model and not an obvious replacement.

I'll be curious to hear what the experts say, but I would have expected to see that dial/handset combination in a gold or gold-capped case, the OMEGA looks a bit wonky when I blow up the image, and the minute marker dots look like they may have been painted over.

I think the dial is original and correct. I suspect it was originally silver and has developed a champagne/gold patina.

If the dial was originally been silver, that would certainly explain the SS case.

No way that dial is original with the extreme case cancer.

I was this far - - from closing my account and just slinking away after such a severe rebuke.

Glad I slept on that decision......apology accepted!👍

And it is TexOmega, pilgrim.

Just to be clear, @TexOmega's request is consistent with the standard operating procedure here, and it looks like you may have misunderstood it. Instead of posting the imgur link (which is not under our control and could vanish at any time), it is better to save the photos and upload them to OF directly. That way this thread will be self-contained for archival purposes. That's what you were asked to do, regardless of what the seller provided you with.
