Bille
·For sale is this rather uncommon Royce 100 ATM automatic diver, ref. 11-162, dating from approximately the early 1970s.
A substantial Swiss professional-style diver from the period, featuring the distinctive large cushion-shaped stainless steel case and an attractive black dial with contrasting orange chapter/minute ring.
The inside of the caseback is signed “S. KOCHER - SWISS - MODELE DEPOSE”. S. Kocher was behind Royce and this type of heavy-duty case construction is associated with a family of Swiss 100 ATM / 1,000 metre divers produced around the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The dial is signed:
ROYCE
AUTOMATIC
25 JEWELS
INCABLOC
100 ATM
The watch is powered by a Swiss 25-jewel automatic movement, believed to be from the A. Schild family (most likely AS 2063). I have included movement photographs so buyers can judge for themselves.
Details:
The watch is in honest vintage condition and shows scratches, marks and general wear consistent with its age and intended purpose.
The dial, hands, bezel and case show attractive ageing/patina, with some loss of lume on the minute hand. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
The watch is running and keeping time, but service history is unknown, and no guarantee is given regarding water resistance. Given its age, the original 100 ATM rating should of course be considered historical only.
A characterful and relatively uncommon early 1970s Swiss diver, particularly attractive in this black/orange configuration.
