Hi, so I'm very happy with my Rolex Sub....but now I'm thinking of a Rolex date just...but from the year of my birth, 1980. Seen a couple which look nice. Anything I need to consider with a watch of that age other than service????

Just the usual, make sure no relumed dial or hands. Be aware of service parts. And verify the reference # matches the watch in regards to type of metal and bezel.

great watch, great wearer for all occasions. just remember there are LOTS of them out there; so be patient for the right one. don't buy one just so you can have one.

be mindful of the corrosion on the case, overall condition is gonna make a difference, seen some awful polishing jobs out there

That is a DJ, not a date model. Keep in mind that those models are smaller than the Sub, so wear one before buying.

especially for that age, however given that the seller doesnt have a picture with the watch elevated, id be wary
