Up for sale is this circa 1988 Rolex ref. 5513 Submariner with last generation "L" serial, one of the all-time classic Vintage Rolex divers in its final configuration. Last of the plastic Subs, this Rolex is in Excellent overall vintage condition and has a beautiful and Mint original gloss/white gold surround Tritium dial. It hasn't gone matte and hasn't developed any spider webbing. It's simply about as glossy as the day it left the factory but with a lovely biscuity patina to the original Tritium luminous plots. The original bezel insert even has its original Tritium pip, which matches the dial perfectly. This great Sub also comes on its original "M" coded 93150 Oyster bracelet with correct 580 ends. As the 5513 Submariner gets bumped back another iteration on the family tree by the new Ceramic Subs, this outstanding last series example is no doubt destined to become even more collectible, which seems to happen to all the historical Rolex models as time passes. Putting the cherry on top of the sundae, this classic plastic no-date Sub has just been fully overhauled by my watchmaker for years more of faithful service. The watch will come with a 6-month movement guarantee for all normal, non-abusive use.

The asking price for this outstanding example of last generation 5513 is $5650 USD including fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. If for some reason you don't want the bracelet the price for the head only is $4950 USD. Bank Wire strongly preferred on this transaction. Other payment options on application. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting.

CASE & BACK: Case has clearly been polished once or twice in the past and was just very lightly detailed by my watchmaker. It shows some residual marks from the years but is very clean -- Excellent previously polished condition. Model number & complete L2 serial number are quite clear between their respective lugs. The mirrored outer caseback was also buffed and has only some older scratches and small nicks, likewise Excellent cosmetically with no personalized engraving. The inner caseback is free of any corrosion and is stamped "5512", which is quite common on these late 5513s with Rolex using up the backs of that discontinued model.

DIAL & HANDS: Absolutely gorgeous and Mint gloss/WG surround T<25 dial with no crazing or "spider webbing" and no significant aging of the original gloss finish. The original Tritium luminous has developed a very attractive tan patina. Tritium hands are likewise Mint with all luminous material perfectly intact but a few shades lighter so possibly replacements, as this generation of original hands was notorious for cracking of the lume and oxidation. This is about as good as one of these early gloss/WG Submariner dials gets, IMO -- simply stunning on the wrist.

CROWN: Period correct Triplock crown shows a little cosmetic wear but screws down tightly, winds properly & hack-sets the time smoothly.

CRYSTAL: Period correct low domed acrylic Tropic 19 has just been polished and is in Excellent+ condition with just a few subtle older scratches.

BEZEL: Original bezel and deep black insert with Tritium pearl showing creamy patina. It's amazing how many of these inserts have lost the pip but not this one! The bezel & insert are both Excellent+ with only minor marks and the bezel rotates freely but firmly in both directions with normal finger pressure.

MOVEMENT: Under the hood is the last generation of Rolex's workhorse non-Chronometer automatic cal. 1520 with 26-jewels and hacking function. As mentioned above, this watch was just fully overhauled by my Master Watchmaker and so is running strong and keeping excellent time. Therefore, the movement is guaranteed for 6 months of normal, non-abusive use and is good to go for many more years after that.

BRACELET: As stated above, this great 5513 comes on its original 93150 Heavy Oyster bracelet with diver's extension. The date code is a little worn away but I make it out to be "M4", which exactly matches the 1988 "L" serial according to our friends over at Oysterworld.de. This bracelet has 12 links with light to moderate stretch and just a little torquing of the diver's extension -- Excellent condition and quite long. Further, the endpieces are the correct 580s and not service replacement 501Bs, making this 93150 quite valuable in its own right. So if you don't want it I'm happy to keep it with an appropriate discount! :)

As a matter of policy I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this or any other watch. If you plan to use this great Submariner as a diver please have it tested for water resistance.

This great 100% genuine Vintage Rolex 5513 is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

    Thanks for looking,
    T.
