5513-8.3milGloss-lng copy.jpg 5513-8.3milGloss-7 copy.jpg Up for sale is this circa 1984 Rolex ref. 5513 Submariner with 8.3 million serial number, one of the all-time classic Vintage Rolex with one of the earlier appearances of the famous gloss/white gold surround dial. Last of the plastic Rolex Subs, this 5513 is in Excellent overall vintage condition and has a beautiful and Near Mint original gloss/white gold surround Tritium dial. This dial is extremely glossy and has only a hint of "stardust" to the gloss finish at certain oblique angles. It has developed a lovely patina to the original Tritium luminous plots and better yet the hands actually match the dial plots in tone, something that is really hard to find on these gloss/WG 5513s. Also cool is that the original bezel insert is a late Fat Font version not the more prevalent thin style from the late 80s. It came to me without any pip and my watchmaker volunteered to create a new one so I said why not? I think it turned out pretty well and matches the dial nicely. This great Sub also comes on its original "I5" coded 93150 Oyster bracelet with correct 580 ends. As the 5513 Submariner gets bumped back another iteration on the family tree by the new Ceramic Subs, this outstanding late series example is no doubt destined to become even more collectible, which seems to happen to all the historical Rolex models as time passes. Putting the cherry on top of the sundae, this classic plastic no-date Sub has just been fully overhauled by my watchmaker for years more of faithful service. The watch will come with a 6-month movement guarantee for all normal, non-abusive use.

The asking price for this outstanding example of late generation 5513 Rolex Submariner is $5650 USD OBRO including fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. Bank Wire strongly preferred on this transaction. Other payment options upon application. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting.

CASE & BACK: Very thick case with symmetrical crown guards and non-distorted lug holes may have been lightly polished and or re-brushed in the past but not by me. It shows some residual marks from the years but is very clean -- Excellent condition. 5513 model number & complete 8.3 million serial number are quite clear between their respective lugs. The mirrored outer caseback was also not polished by me and shows the typical dulling scratches and small nicks, likewise Excellent cosmetically with no personalized engraving and very minor tool marks. The inner caseback is free of any corrosion and is stamped "5512", which is quite common on these late 5513s with Rolex using up the backs of that discontinued model.

DIAL & HANDS: Absolutely gorgeous and Near Mint gloss/WG surround T<25 dial with no crazing or "spider webbing" and just some hints of aging to the original gloss finish visible under a high power loupe, including just a touch of subtle "starburst" effect in certain areas. The original Tritium luminous has developed a very attractive tan patina. Tritium hands are more like Excellent with minor signs of corrosion but with all luminous material perfectly intact and better yet matching the tone of the dial plots perfectly. This is quite uncommon, as this generation of original hands was notorious for cracking of the lume and oxidation and so were more often than not replaced and went on to age to a different hue than the dial. This is about as good as one of these early gloss/WG Submariner dial/hands combos gets, IMO -- simply stunning on the wrist.

CROWN: Period correct Triplock crown shows a little cosmetic wear but screws down tightly, winds properly & hack-sets the time smoothly.

CRYSTAL: Period correct low domed acrylic Tropic 19 has just been polished and is in Excellent condition with just a few subtle older scratches.

BEZEL: Original bezel and deep black late Fat Font insert (sharp 4) with replacement pearl showing creamy patina. Like so many Sub inserts, this one had lost it's pip and as stated above I had my watchmaker manufacture a new one. But if you don't care for it you can always knock it out and you'll be back to exactly the way the watch came to me. ;) The bezel & insert are both Excellent with only minor marks and the bezel rotates freely but firmly in both directions with normal finger pressure.

MOVEMENT: Under the hood is the last generation of Rolex's workhorse non-Chronometer automatic cal. 1520 with 26-jewels and hacking function. As mentioned above, this watch was just fully overhauled by my watchmaker including installation of a new mainspring and setting bridge and so is running strong and keeping really excellent time. Therefore, the movement is guaranteed for 6 months of normal, non-abusive use and is good to go for many more years after that.

BRACELET: As stated above, this great 5513 comes on its original 93150 Heavy Oyster bracelet with diver's extension. The date code is "I5" matching the circa 1984 serial of the watch according to our friends over at Oysterworld.de. This bracelet has 11 links with very light stretch and I had my watchmaker re-brush it as it was quite scratched up. So now it is in Excellent+ condition cosmetically. Further, the endpieces are the correct 580s and not service replacement 501Bs, making this 93150 quite valuable in its own right.

As a matter of policy I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this or any other watch, especially having opened it up to take pictures of the interior. If you plan to use this great Submariner as a diver please have it tested for water resistance.

This great 100% genuine Vintage Rolex 5513 is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

    Thanks for looking,
    T.
