Yesterday I went to my birth town Surabaya, and meet couple vintage watch trader. One of them show me his heirloom collection, a Rolex Daytona Paul Newman.
As I am not really familiar with vintage Rolex, Could Rolex experts in here help me shed some light on what specific type this Daytona and how much its current value is?

Thank you for any information and sharing...........

The condition of that to be honest is pretty bad, I've no doubt its still expensive but I'd take a clean CK2998 over that any day of the week.

Yes, I perused several other vintage Omega, some all gold Connies and Seamaster. Unfortunately most of the dial condition is pretty bad although original. Probably tropic atmosphere is not friendly for keeping vintage watch in long time.

The trader did not sell this because it is his family heirloom, I am just curious in this bad condition, what expensive we are talking about? 5-10K? 10-20K? Above 20K?Above 50K?

Well at least I know it is a controversial watch. Potentially high value watch (at least north of 20K).
As bracelet, I agree with you Kyle. These traders are not purists, if somebody just ask the bracelet at the right price, they will not hesitate to take it and replace with something else.
Looking at the debates above, I am surprised Rolex did not take firmer stand to one of their iconic watch. Don't they have service of 'extract of archive like Omega did for the vintage watch?
Sorry for so basic question. I am almost blind in vintage Rolex world, and would not intended to enter it.

Watch looks a bit funky to me...bracelet looks like a mishmosh of Rolex and non-rolex parts and the dial looks a bit odd to me. I think it's one of these questionable Mayer dial 6240s:

Indeed it is an interesting and informative link and it is appreciated.

One has to be an avid enthusiast or expert, to pick up a vintage-watch with a five-figure price-tag. It is not a child's play.

Thank-you.

Your bringing the Daytona Paul Newman to our attention is appreciated and it proves, we have lots to learn.

I hate to imagine how disappointed, your vintage-watch trader will be. I think it is only proper that you bring this thread to the poor man's attention.

Thank-you.

It is his family heirloom. When I 'test' him whether he will sell to me, he said he need to discussed with all his brother and sister 🤔.
I might show this link to him when I went back to Surabaya.

It is good for you to think likewise. At least the owners will be aware, what they are sitting on, a controversial vintage-watch and not one that can be proven authentic.

Thank-you.
