Good evening! I’m a new forum member searching for help with a vintage purchase.

    1960 Seamaster c550.
    $375 US
Claimed: all original parts, no polishing attempt, serviced 6 mos ago.

Unfortunately, I don’t know much about vintage Omega. Posting pics for reference. Hoping to get an understanding from this group of aficionados on: quality for price, claims on original parts (from what you can see), legitimacy of reference numbers, and overall impression.

Thank you very much! Wonderful forum, and happy to be part of the family!

I think that most collectors would avoid that watch because the dial is moldy and unattractive and it could be a bit of a project to find a replacement. I don't really know how to put a value on it. I guess you could take the price of a nice example, and subtract the cost of a good replacement dial.

Thank you for the insight! When looking at the dial, it was hard for my untrained eye to tell patina versus moldy. I appreciate your advice!

I interpret what I see on the movt and therefore the dial as water incursion, which is always a bad thing.

    Moldy is a good word.

I would be leary about the movement - if it was just serviced why does it still have funk on the rotor. Pre-service picture?

As far as the “moldy look” I like it haha all patina is damage and some looks better than others. At $375 (and a service) I think it’s decent deal. I like crosshair dials and patina so... I’m easily persuaded

The crown is not original. I agree with Dan and Tex about the mould on the dial, which to me is about as attractive as damp on a wall. Pity as it's almost a decent watch, but it will never actually be one whatever you do to it.
