I had an identical situation with the Ploprof I acquired. While the reason for the stem coming out may not be identical to mine, it is certainly worth sending to the absolute experts. I had mine serviced through the vintage shop in Bienne. I suggest reaching out to them ahead of sending it in, via email. Once you have established good communications, the process is fairly straight forward.

A word of caution if you would be shipping from the US. Study the Customs rules and take the time to fill out the necessary paperwork ahead of shipping. I didn't do that and wound up paying additional money upon reentry to the states. This was all before the new tariffs went into affect.

Some pics. Your opinion may differ (and most do), but I wanted a complete restoration. I love the outcome:

I bought both the link bracelet and the rubber strap from Omega, during the servicing. If you inquire about them, they should be able to provide the details. Be ready for sticker shock, but that's life in the watch world.

After studying yours a little closer, I would try to preserve the vintage aspects to the best you can. When you direct Omega, you could tell them you want complete movement and seals restoration, but would like to keep as much of the vintage appeal as possible. They will leave everything alone, except for anything they need to do to keep a warranty in place.

All this should be ironed out before you send it in. Over communication is your friend.

Beautiful watch. Keep the dial and hands as is, do not replace them, they are in amazing shape. I think you should just use an independent watch guy. The movement is very simple and should not be a problem to service. I am also looking for a vintage Ploprof, I hope I will get one soon.

This is one I’d be tempted to send to STS. Given the various gaskets and other case parts that are unique, I don’t think it would hurt to use them.
They are very sympathetic to vintage but obviously have an Omega parts account.
