Hello to all :O)
hope you are all safe wherever you are. Just got a new watch and wanted to share with you. What are your thoughts? any idea about the year of production ? crown not sure if it's a replacement or the original. Gold plated and SS case with a beautiful two tone dial, sub seconds and Arabic gold numerals , what else could I wish.
the caliber is in pristine conditions, the case too (only the area where they open the watch you can see the knife scratches but not visible once you wear it). Plexiglass has minor scratches that will be removed soon. Not the best pictures but I wanted to share them 馃榾
take care

Wow that movement indeed is gorgeous. Congrats and wear it in good health.
year of production I would say mid- to late 1940s, based on the style and design: don鈥檛 know if there are serial number dating charts for Movado.
Best regards

Good looking watch, congrats!

But that isnt a ss case?
Fond acier inoxydable means stainless steel back in French - only the caseback is made of steel!

Very nice find!

What are the case dimensions? My guess would be late 40s to early 50s, but that's just that, a guess.

Enjoy!

thanks :O)
then if the case back is SS, what about the rest of the case? I know that is gold plated but on what material they plated? I thought all the case was SS

It's possible and likely that the crown is not original. It is my understanding that time-only Movados in the 1940s came with a domed crown. I am not too sure if the same convention was held for gold plated watches but from new old stock examples of 40s time-only Movados I've seen over the years, they all had the same dome shaped crown (be it full steel or chrome plated). Not a Movado expert, but just some observations over the years. Cheers.
