Hi all,

have been offered an Omega from private. The colleague unfortunately does not get it open, so the reference is not known. It has probably about 36mm diameter without crown (crown with logo). What do you think about the dial - is that original from your point of view?

For me the watch has charm - what do you think is I can offer the colleague?

Thanks, Andreas

I can’t comment on originality, but just wanted to point out the 3 & 5 o’clock hour markers are missing. For me personally, I don’t find this piece or dial very appealing.

Dial is original (=not restored) but missing 2 of the gold indexes as mentioned above.

2 more pics form the back and crown. Not nice with the missing links :-(.

Ref 2639, original including the crown. Worthwhile acquisition in my opinion.

As @Dr No says, it is still a worthwhile buy.
But two missing markers (worst) and heavy patina way more than halves the value.

I would say 150 € max.

Agreed about the 2639, which is one of my favorite references from the 30mm family. However, I don't know if I could tolerate the missing markers. Not a buy for me.

It might be original but it is not very nice to look at is it? Ask yourself, do you want to buy a watch that will cost more to service than it will ever be likely worth?

Cool watch. Maybe not one for the high end collectors but for the right price a worthwhile purchase I reckon.

Hello all,

thanks again for the many tips and also for the assessment of the value. The seller wanted at least 400€ for the watch, so I did not take it.

Best, Andreas

Well, maybe it could be restored. Original black dials are nice and rare.

Won’t be very original then though eh?
