Vintage Omega vs. Rolex Tritium

Did a quick search, didn't find a thread that had covered this on the forum, so here it goes. My main question is, what is the difference in the tritium and what environmental conditions creates that wonderful patina that we all lust for?

For Rolex, It's generally accepted that lack of exposure to sunlight/UV plays a major role in the creation of patina. Other factors such as humidity, climate etc. have also been widely debated. However, in the Omega world, the opposite seems to hold true (in my experience at least.) The more exposure to sunlight, the heavier the patina. I own one NOS and one near NOS vintage Omega from the late early 70's/ late 60's which barely have any patina. The watches where put in a safe for +40 yrs. and the tritium on the markers look brand new with very little discoloration.

    Is my observation accurate?

    Thanks.

We might need a WayBack machine to discuss this properly.

    Asking asking the same lines:

Any member here have photos taken of watches 10+years ago (in order to take a pic again of the same watch and compare?)

I wish I had one. I'd buy a shit load of '62 DRC La Tâche, '61 Jaboulet Hermitage, a '57 Broad Arrow or two, several '53 FFs and Subs, and probably all the shares I could afford of Apple's IPO in December of 1980.

My job would now be going to the mailbox and saying "Hello check!" instead of working 50 hours a week dealing with the public.

If it weren't for the pay, the hours, the bosses and the customers, it wouldn't be a bad job.

Not trying to hijack, but why do all of my Omegas still glow like a champ after direct exposure to light while none of my Rolex even have a hint of glow.

That's another intriguing question. My '68 Speedmaster still holds a good amount of charge, while my '78 GMT has nothing left in the tank. I'm sure there is a scientific answer to this question, but I haven't seen it published any where.

Nope...all of mine are 100% original...no work at all, plus the patina matches other references of the same age and iteration of dial.

It is kind of amazing how shitty Rolex lume is...I mean watches from the 1990s are toast, yet 50+ year old Omega still have juice.
