    Hi all,
First post. I just got my uncle's vintage Seamaster. It may have never been serviced. I would guess it is a 1950 or 1960 model. It runs well but I had to set the time by putting it on at the time it stopped as there is no crown to set it. My goals are to wear it daily as my uncle was very important in my life. I would like it serviced, crown added, bracelet added, and perhaps a new crystal.. I do not know if this model was one that could be taken in the water as there are no water resistant markings. But if it is swimmable, then obviously I would like a high quality service to allow this.

My question: where is the best service? I am in California. Do I contact Omega headquarters? Is there a local Sacramento service that is just .
    Thanks in advance.
    Scott

I would definitely replace the crystal because of the crack. I wouldn't count on that watch being water resistant enough, even after a quality service, to swim with it. Get a good service and don't wear until it has been serviced, to keep from damaging the movement. Don't take it to Omega. If you do a site search for California watch repair, I seem to remember a recommended watchmaker in the Bay area.

That's who I was thinking of but thought they were in SF. I guess my being wrong is a win for the OP.

Got it back from Paul's. First time this 1959 Seamaster was ever serviced. Had to replace crystal, crown, stem. Cleaned and serviced. I am happy. I thought the replacement crystal would have a logo, but I cannot see it. Thanks for your help.

    Is that crown correct?
It seems rather proud, I await the experts conclusions.

If it was an Omega crystal, it should have the logo in the middle. Using a generic can cause issues with how the movement sits in the case. Not something I would use a generic on - the front loaders are already enough of an pain in the arse without adding in possible problems with using a generic crystal...

I wonder if this year had a logo on the crystal. The first pic above where the crystal has a crack, does not have a logo. The watch looked like it was never serviced so the crystal may have been original.

Even if the original didn't, I've ordered many hundreds of Omega replacement acrylic crystals, and I can't ever recall seeing one that didn't have the logo. If the crystal was replaced, and it doesn't have a logo, it's generic.
