Hi,
just came across these watches in Spain while on vacation. guy asks 14k eur for them declaring their all original but i would appreciate any advice from the experts here. thanks!

Vietnam war flown Speedmaster 145.012-67 (with provenance)

A very rare, possibly unique watch.

I am selling my Speedmaster 145.012 formerly owned by United States Marine Corp (USMC) pilot Captain Bill Steinberg (That’s Bill wearing the Speedmaster in the photo below). The watch was given to Bill by his parents on graduation from the university of Wisconsin in June 1968. Bill joined the USMC the same day and attended flight school in Pensacola, Florida a month later. He added the inscription on the back after he got his wings in Corpus Christi, Texas. I don't understand - are there multiple watches? If so, send photos of the others - backs also. But if this is for this one watch, no, $14k seems aggressive.

Isn't 14K EUR optimistic for any standard lyre lug Speedy these days? With exception to Ultraman, LE etc.

My opinion: IF the dial were very attractive and everything else was very nice and original, 14k would be about the upper limit for a 145.012 or 105.012. For me, this dial is not in the upper half of dials from that era. This watch, from what I see, is worth closer to 7k usd. So much relies on the dial appearance...not just cond. There are beautiful dials from this era, incl the 68 transitionals. So there is no "standard lyre lug" in my view. A beautiful dial can add or subtract thousands ....for me.

Sellers are struggling to price 60’s Speedmasters imo (or are just being optimistic!).
Over the last couple of years people seem to assume the heights of 2017-covid have not only maintained, but increased, when in truth, average-good examples have reduced in value.

There’s a couple of Speedmasters in the private sales here recently where I’ve read the description and photos then raised my eyes at the asking price.
