Attached is a picture on a vintage Omega SHOM sent to me by one of my watch agents. It looks really nice. Does the watch appears to be a watchco re-creation? Just want to make sure before I make a serious offer. Thanks.
I have seen more Watchco examples than originals for this specific ref. Don't know what yours is, but it looks to be in pristine condition.
Watch agents are same as pickers. They go around neighborhoods offering cash for watch, gold and gem stones. Most of the watches they pick goes to the dealers except if they have a direct buyer looking for certain watches.
I have seen photos of some real vintage examples of the watch and all of them does not have a pearl in the bezel and the insert looks like bakelite material.
The case back engraving will tell you if it is a genuine SHOM, but I thought the 166.177s had the crown on the right.
The old ones have acrylic bezel insert with luminous numbers, the new ones have aluminium inserts with a lume pip.
I'm 99% sure that's a modern put together. . The lume can look different depending on the light and the cameras white balance.
My vote is WatchCo, unless this particular one has been completely re-furbished by Omega. Everything looks like luminova and the case is perfect.
BTW the hands and hour markers have faded to a pale green color and the mesh bracelet came from his plo prof watch.
Ask for a photo of the lume in the dark after a minute held up to a bright light source. I'm pretty sure its luminova. If the bracelet came from his ploprof, he had an undersized bracelet on it. Shom lugs 22mm. Ploprof lugs 24mm.
