Hello. I’m new to this forum and was hoping I could get some advice on a watch that I was looking at on Ebay. As far as I can tell, it seems to be real. The logo is etched on the inside and not on the back, and the serial number matches one from 1947. It is a apparently a vintage Omega Seamaster. It does have some signs of age but like the seller suggests, maybe that gives it character. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Real...

But the dial was poorly redone a long time ago. It was common at service.

Oh that’s interesting. I guess the watch having character is a bit of a stretch then. Does $800 seem rather high?

    Uhm, YES! :D
About 3-4 times its market value. At least to a collector.

In fact a collector would not want to own this watch...

This is apparently a vintage 1963 Seamaster. Everything about it looks great but I keep looking at the date in the window that is slightly off center. Should I take this as an indication that it may not be real or just an issue of a watch being over 50 years old?

It could be that the time in the picture is 10:13pm. The calendar starts moving about 10:00pm in these movements.

You would want to seller to take a picture showing a different time. If the date is still off center, it could be a sign that the movement needs service, or that the dial is not installed properly.

    Hope this helps,
