Vintage Omega Seamaster Cosmic - Damaged by water

Hi,

I’m afraid some water got in my watch and some tiny white spots (which I assume are rust) started to pop up on the dial. I haven’t used the watch much recently and this week I noticed that the dots might have spread even more.

I know I should have probably acted earlier, but is there anything I can do now to control damage? The dial used to be spotless :(

Thanks in advance for any help or tips.

M

Here’s the picture that can give a better sense of what I’m talking about.

In Austria, I paid EUR 600,- for a service of an Omega Seamaster Cosmic (18k).
However, it is a great feeling having a freshly serviced vintage watch.

At Omega, you likely will pay EUR 800-1200,-

Good luck, and don't lose time.. water and moisture are really bad for the movement.

Thanks everyone for weighing in here. I’ll definitely bring it in for a service tomorrow. I wish I had known this and I would have done something earlier.

I’m just a little unsure about the potential cost of all this, the watch itself is not worth more than 600€, but let’s wait and see what the watch repair shop will say.

I can't really see the damage very well, but it's likely that the water is causing damage to the lacquer coating on the dial, which is not usually reversible. However, by drying out the watch thoroughly, you may minimize further damage.
