Up for sale is this classic late 1960s Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark II with super-cool high contrast exotic "Racing" dial. This colorful orange, red and gray dial is Mint and very vibrant and the original Tritium lume has acquired a handsome biscuity patina, as have the hands. The Speedy Mark II is powered by the famed Lemania-based manual wind caliber 861, the same robust chrono caliber that is found in the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch from 1969 on. Featuring a tonneau case with sweeping lines that retain their original factory finish and a fixed Tachymeter scale integrated into the mineral crystal to prevent the dreaded bezel knock off, the Speedy Mark II was an innovative design that showcased Omega’s modernist commitment to diversify their chronograph line above and beyond the tried and true Moonwatch. Overall, this example is in Excellent vintage condition and also comes on the more uncommon and desirable 1159 Omega bracelet with 154 ends. I last had this stunning Mark II fully serviced in 2015 so it is running like a top with all chrono functions operating crisply.

The asking price for this great Vintage Omega Speedy Mark II with wonderful Mint exotic Racing dial is $2,850 USD OBRO, including fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. Bank Wire preferred but Paypal is OK on this transaction with +2% to the buyer. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting.

CASE & CASEBACK: Large and heavy 41.5 wide x 46mm long x 14mm thick stainless steel tonneau case is very clean and appears to have never been polished, as it exhibits extremely sharp chamfers and all the original factory finishes. This Speedy Mark II shows a few scratches and light nicks commensurate with its nearly 50 years of use. Overall, Excellent unpolished vintage condition. The outer caseback has some minor hairline scratches but no gouges from poor opening technique or the like. The Hippocampus, SPEEDMASTER & Omega symbol are all quite crisp — externally Excellent cosmetic condition. The inner caseback has no corrosion and shows all the correct original Omega nomenclature of the period, including the proper reference number.

DIAL & HANDS: Mint Tritium dial in high impact gray, orange & burgundy "Racing" layout. I don’t throw out Mint very often but there are really just no visible defects under a loupe and the colors are about as bright as I have ever seen on one of these Trit dials. The lume bars have aged to an attractive café au lait and the luminous fill of the correct hour and minute hands matches in tone perfectly. The complete handset, including all the chrono hands, is Near Mint with only very minor signs of age. No doubt about it, this classic Omega Mk II exotic Racing dial makes a pure vintage statement on the wrist while the exceptionally well preserved colors provide uncommon visual punch.

CROWNS & PUSHERS: Signed Omega winding crown and original pushers are Excellent cosmetically. The large crown winds and pulls out to the time-setting position as it should. The top pusher stops and starts the chronograph and the bottom pusher resets all chrono registers precisely to zero as designed.

CRYSTAL: Unique flat mineral crystal with inner printed Tachymeter scale is Excellent with only a few minor nicks but no chips or deep scratches.

MOVEMENT: Legendary Omega cal. 861 chronograph movement with a 31 million serial number dates to circa 1969, which makes this a rather early Mark II. Its characteristic copper finish is looking very bright and pristine and I had this movement fully overhauled in March 2015. Therefore all chronograph and time-keeping functions are operating properly with crisp start/stop and reset of the chrono hands and this manual wind Speedy is keeping very good time with strong power reserve. This is guaranteed to be the case at the time of shipment.

BRACELET: More desirable Omega ref. 1159 bracelet with the additional center link detail and correct 154 straight ends. This robust steel bracelet is in Excellent condition with some minor stretch and some scuffs and scratches to the original clasp. It has two removable links and at its longest adjustment it should fit up to around a 7.75" wrist. This watch has a 20mm lug width.

As a matter of policy I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form.

This great Vintage Omega Speedy Mk II is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer. This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

    Thanks for looking,
    T.

Nicest wearable (meaning non-safe queen) example I’ve seen given the look of the lume on the dial.

These things are such a great value and this one is right near the top, IMO.

    GLWS!!!
