Vintage Omega real or not?

Good day all,

I have found an offer for an vintage gold capped Omega. The pictures say reference 2667-4SC. What worries me a bit is that if I search for this reference no I find Omegas with lugs going into the case without step. This gold capped Omega does have steps from lug to case. Is it possible that the 2667 gold capped version shows a slightly diffraction case?
Thank you for your help 😀

The watch case looks to be gold-capped (not gold plated - a totally different process). A thick layer of gold over steel.

Due to the very thick lugs on this case style, it is possible that they had to be manufactured separately and soldered on to the case. This would not have been necessary for a steel version.

I also cannot find another gold capped version of Ref 2667, but Omega made them for most popular references at a small premium over solid steel.

Hope this helps,

The omega site says only steel for this ref. Maybe a swapped case back?

That doesn't mean anything. They rarely mention more than one case material per reference when in reality there were usually many.

Hope this helps. I have the same / similar case on my ref. 2667-4SC waffle dial cal. 420. Serial # 139xxxxx.... (1953?)
This is the "bombe" (fat) lug 2-tone stainless / gold case.

Thanks, Enchanted.

To the OP, these cases are somewhat rare, but there are some out there. Here's another early 1950s 2667 or very close to a 2667 two-tone case example with the fat lugs. They are definitely legitimate cases for this reference. (Images borrowed from a forgotten internet source. Full credit to their owner)!
