Hi OF,
This is my first post on Omega Forums.I hope to you want to help me with your knowledge and expertise.
I recently acquired this (said to be) original Omega Ranchero 2996 from 1958, i dont have the biggest knowledge on this reference, the guy i bought i from is a vintage Omega dealer who advised that this watch should be authentic, except for the crown which he replaced with a newer one. Because he said it was the real deal i didn't think further about it, but as i posted it on a danish watch group I became aware that the dial might be redone, the broad arrow hands might be aftermarket and the case might not be the right one. I trust the guy a bought it from and i'm sure he didn't sold it to me as authentic unless he really believed so himself. I traded it for a Rolex Datejust 1601 with a bit of money my way, he had a price at 16.800dkk equal to 2,250eur or 2,615USD. Dont have the tools at hand to take of the back case, but if needed i will post pictures later.
Picture is taken with my phone, my canon couldn't do these macro shots.... Its hard to see on the pictures, but the dial has a very matte deep look, not shiny at all.
I can always cancel the trade, so no hard feeling. Just want your opinion on this matter, all feedback is received with thanks!
