Hello
I’m thinking of buying this Omega Ploprof watch from a privat seller. The guy bought it self and used it when new as a diver watch in his occupation. He don’t need the watch anymore and it has been in a drawer the last 25 years. The watch is well used as a tool watch should be. Nagging in plexi , dings and scratchas on the case and so on. One of the “small” balls that makes the bezel click in right position is missing and the second hand is not original. He has even made his own tag on the backside of the case. Looks like a 3 years old child engraved in something 😀
Everything is original on the watch without the second hand. Even the Isofrane rubber strap is the Omega original. (One keeper is missing though )

I like the watch and it has it charm , I guess the caliber is not that rare. And movement parts can not be that hard to find. Maybe the “small ball” bezel thing is a problem to find , and an original second hand ? Probably need a plexi to. If I want this monster to be waterproof again.

So everywhere I looked the prices are pretty high on these watches. Mostly of them are ready to use.
This watch I’m thinking of buying has some work before it could be used as a daily beater.

what is a fair price for this project ? Maybe it ends up on the same prices as chrono24 when this watch is ready to use ?

Best regards / Johan

The spare parts are still available from Omega.
The glass is not a plexi, but a mineral glass.
The ball bearing is nowdays made from ceramic, not steel, but it fits.
It is a savable piece!

Ok sounds great , but when you say that omega still Stocks spare parts , I guess you mean movement parts. When it comes to second hand and acryl glass I guess I have to look on other places if i want original old parts.

Don’t want new made parts that’s fits and looks original.

Omega has both, movement and case parts.
Of course they do not use tritium nowdays, all lumed parts are luminova filled.
NOS parts are hard to find sometimes.
But I have the NOS second hand also by chance😀)
