Vintage Omega Help

Can anyone help me identify this vintage Omega? It is my first one and I know nothing about it. The only markings on the dial are “Omega” and “Swiss Made”. The back is only stamped “18K Gold”. The case is right at 33mm in diameter. Does this have a model name/number and any ideas on when it would have been made? Also, ballpark value? It does wind and run properly (obviously the strap isn’t original). Thanks for any info!

The information you want is inside. Please have it opened and post photos. Otherwise we are guessing. The value is mostly in the gold because of the current astronomic spot price.

Are these hard to open? I do not know where to take it locally (I’m in a fairly small town).

It's hard to tell what kind of case it is from the photos. If you can't determine that yourself, you should take it to a watch repair business. It's easy to badly scratch 18k gold if you mess up.

The hallmark is American. Watch was almost certainly a “national production” model. Movement made by Omega in Switzerland, case made by one of several manufacturers here.

This was done to save on tariffs for Swiss gold watch cases in the 1950’s.

18K American cases for Omega were rather unusual, but they were used on occasion. Value is going to be based on the gold case plus a couple of hundred dollars for the movement.

Thanks for the info. The 18k gold is the reason that I bought it. I am thinking I paid at or below the value of the gold alone for the whole watch. That is what I am hoping for anyways.

You've done well then, because the watch appears to be attractive and it can serve as a nice dress watch for you. 18k gold is going for roughly $55/gm these days.

Movement has correct US import stamp for Omega and an obvious US made case.

Unusual to see Swiss Made on the dial of a US cased watch?

Or isn't it?

OK. Here is another example of the same reference also in 18K gold:

See how much easier this is when we have the correct and complete information?

Thanks! I actually saw that old post when I googled the “P-6585” reference. Can you tell me how old the watch is?

Movement SN dates it to 1964. There are several online databases for Omega SNs.

Thank you. I honestly didn’t even know which number was the serial number. This is my first and only Omega.
