Hello Community: Has anyone purchased some Vintage Omegas from Vintage Portfolio? I came across the site ( the name Maximillian rings a bell somehow) as I was researching for my 9M SN OMEGA ART DECO. The case back is messed up I brought it to a shop in West 47th NYC months ago doing laser welding and was told that it is corroded and won't stand a chance. Thanks and this is my piece. I brought it to my watchmaker hoping he can find even a generic caseback but no luck. He installed a crystal instead (forgot to take a shot) so my 1940 Omega has a see through case back now(lol).

Theres a process called electro-less nickel plating that can be used to build up lost or worn away materials. Its strong enough that a worn out bolt coated with it can be rethreaded.
Sorry I've never had this done myself. I'd looked into it many years ago to see if a worn gun part could be put back into usable condition but found and NOS replacement part soon afterwards. You'd have to do a search and find a company or shop near you. The main advantage of the electro-less process is that its self leveling so it fills in any pitting. Unless the caseback just won't stay on I can't see that much wrong with it from the images. Is it undersized? If so are you sure its the proper back for this case? Finding a replacement may be the better option.
