I don't know if this belongs here not being a watch, but at least it's vintage and it's an Omega. This used to be on my father's office desk before he retired. IIRC, it's from mid to late 80ies. I took it from him when he retired in 2003. It's very heavy 1160 grams exactly, and its battery is very hard to find as it's no longer produced. Wanted to share and will appreciate any information about this beauty. IMG_0418.JPG IMG_0419.JPG IMG_0415.PNG

Thanks for sharing, this is rarer than rare, the Manhattan Caliber 1526 ! Over the past 10 years I've only seen two pop-up ! The box seen below didn't survive did it ? Also it seems to have picked up some "coloring" on one side ?

Here's a picture from the Omega reference book for some more info :

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. The dial looks almost like my watch below which I bought new in the late 80's. Perhaps I'll try to make it a desk clock ...

Very interesting indeed, same dial and same case!

Thanks a lot for this information, appreciated! Unfortunately I have never seen the box. The coloring may have occured because of lack of interest as it has been sitting in a guest room for the last 10+ years w/out proper care, perhaps could be cleaned let me try.

    Duracell 625A or equivalent.
    Strangely they don't last that long - I bought a six-pack!

Yes. It looks just the same as the pictures above, with box as in AJTT.

Are you putting in several together, just on top of each other?

It looks very small, the original battery was like 3/4 of an inch tall, I am sure it wasn't Duracell 625A or similar but will try to see if it'll work.

I don't want to disturb mine now (the time is perfect!) but there is a metal disc next to the battery: the disc is as thick as the battery itself. The disc was there when I bought the clock. Maybe the clock was designed with a different, thicker battery? You are correct that the space seems about 3/4 inch. I don't think this 'disc' was home-made, I really think it was provided by Omega - but it would explain the problem if you don't have the disc.

Very interesting piece - looks great.
I guess the most important thing about the battery is voltage and diameter. As long as these are correct, then a spring could make up the battery height difference.
Ensuring correct polarity is also pretty important :))

I remember when I had the correct battery code for this clock I had a battery shop custom make a battery for me, connecting 2 or 3 smaller type ones but it lasted a few months only. Then I lost the code. Duracell 625A is 1.5V, at least I know that now..

OK, I have set about it. I never thought I’d be going into detail about a quartz clock on OF! And Bill Sohne would certainly not allow these to be called ‘rare’!

Attached are some images. The metal disc is 10.73 mm thick, the battery is 6 mm thick. As you see, the battery cover is marked ‘1.35V’ although the battery is 1.5V. I agree with the comment by noiseboyuk – the battery cover is marked to show positive up!

The battery cover is not easy to install – the three pins are not symmetrically placed! The arrow (clockwise) shows the direction to remove.
    Good luck. Tom

Thanks for sharing. Yes I know about the battery cover, I stored it elsewhere because it does not stay put when there's no battery inside.
I don't have that metal piece, apparently it works as a conductor there.

Interesting, thanks. What's that grey plastic part that seems to be sticking out in picture #2 ?

Picture #2 shows the battery holder - lined with grey plastic. I don't see anything sticking out.
