I'll let one of the C-Case experts chime in on the dial but I like your choice of model, Cal 564 is a solid piece of kit and that case in stainless with the sunburst brushed bezel looks great.

Looks pretty good. The brushing on the top of the case & bezel are correct, as well as the case side. The bevel on the case edge is polished as it should be although a little dinged up. The 168.017 could have had either a 561 or 564, with the 564 usually in the later models. C-cases were introduced in December of 1964 and this particular reference ran into 1971 (I think). I'm not sure if that buckle is original or authentic from the pictures but that's nit picking. Also, the lighting isn't even enough to tell if any of the movement's parts have been changed but the color of the plating looks close. Overall, not a bad watch IMO. Is it an auction or a set price?

Thanks to all of you for your helpful information!
The piece is on auction, so it is really a question of the deepness of my pocket, witch at this moment is not so deep. I still feel however that the price witch it is going at now (150€= about 185$) is not so bad.

Most of these 561's were swapped from 168.005's piepan connies.;)

I think that depends on the locality Hoi, I don't think that happens in the southern US for example

BTW, what Hoi is talking about is that in some locations, e.g. Asia., C-Connies are sought to exchange their 564 into 168.005 and vice versa, as the quick-set is very desired in the pie pans of that model and this increases their value.

eBay has made "connie globalization" possible than ever, I've seen a white gold 168005 flying from Hong Kong to Dallas then to VietNam in less than 2 years. Southern US is no exception.

Yes as a source of 564's, not a cultural tradition and demand for for the final product. You have said this yourself. Plus in your post above you did not explain the reason 561's were being put in 168.0017 Connies. We are not in disagreement here Hoi.

Certainly, next time I need to open it I'll be happy to take a picture of it for you. But I know from memory it is in the 23840... range
