Recently acquired 18ct Omega Constelation 1964 I am questioning if the dial is 100% correct. Watch originally purchased in HK. I have original guarantee and rating certificate.

Could the dial have been made especially for the HK market?

or
A replacement dial fitted by Omega when watch returned for service.

Grateful for any information or opinions.

It’s not an original or service dial imo. It’s simply been repainted/redialled

Dial has been poorly repainted and the case is massively over polished.

Thank you for the replies and yes I have done some more research and can now understand why this dial is not correct. It is a pity.I purchased this watch at a Scottish auction and persumed the fact that it had its original paper work it would have been correct. Why would a dial be restored /repainted and then incorrectly. Doe's anybody know if this dial could be returned to its original and how much would it cost.

Many thanks for any information

It’s only original once. No matter how well it’s refinished, it’s still a redial. This was fairly common when mechanical watches were crucial to tell the time, before they became items of luxury and collectors started obsessing about originality and attractive patina.
When you need a wristwatch to make a meeting/train on time, it needed to be legible and so dial damage due to water ingress, tobacco etc was generally remedied by refinishing the dial.

Might be an Conselation Dial , but is not a Constellation Dial.... So far good repainted Dials come out of Vietnam. Good luck !
