    Dear all,

Up for sale is my Omega ref. 2639-12 steel, sub-second watch. It is 36mm (excluding the crown) so some might call in Jumbo, though I would only consider a 38mm+ Omega such a watch. Still, it is a relatively large timepiece, that looks awesome even on larger wrists.

The case has the usual wear, nothing major at all. The case back has signs of a nato-like strap though I got it on a leather strap. I did not want to have that polished out. The watch case was cleaned, and a new none-omega crystal was fitted. It is worth mentioning that there's a piece of extra steel between the 9 and 10 on the outer side of the rim. But steel is not missing around it so I doubt that it's a ding. I presume the case came like that. Not sure but honestly it is barely visible.

The movement is Omega's caliber 266 which is manual wind, 17J, antimagnetic. It's a later derivative of the 30T2 (it was only 15J and had no shock protection). the serial number is 13mill (I removed the last 3 digits) that puts the watch to 1952 or so. The watch runs and keeps time within 7-8 seconds per day. The ref. 2639 came out in 1949 according to AJTT. The watch has a screw-in case back, this allowed it to be water resistant to 30m. This has not been tested :) The crown is not signed. The lugs are drilled, making strap changing super easy. Speaking of which it comes on a new Swedish, black leather strap with beige stitching.

The coolest detail of this piece is its dial. While it shows some aging, which is normal since we're talking about a roughly 67yo watch, it is still in great condition. I took the photos with a macro lens, please keep this in mind. The dial has an outer part and the inner area which have different shades in different angles. Sometimes the outer rim looks bright and the inside looks darker, from another angle it is the other way around. Please note, that I did not edit the images other than the AUTO function so this is not the result of PhotoShop. Check out the photos for reference. The indexes are raised and silver, the 3-9-12 are painted. The logo is applied gold while the Omega text is the old style with the flat A.
