It's my brothers 30th next month. Trying to think of a gift is there any such thing as a vintage omega from 1983?
Speak for yourself, man. I was already in high school by 1983 and sometimes I feel ancient which is way more than vintage.
Don't hold me to this, but I hear that '83 was a good year for Dom Perignon amidst a run of nice vintages from '79 through '86.
It's finding it that's the problem. Probably I'm the region £900-1300 can vary depending on condition.
Might be a bit off base there. I think you'd be lucky to find one cheaper. Does it have to be only Omega?
I am sure they are that sort of money what I mean is I don't have to spend I want something nice not modern i guess around the £300 max that he can keep for a long time if you get what I mean. I thought birth year would be ideal but I might consider other stuff just thought would throw it out there
So I thought I'd help out a fellow watch collector who is clearly in need and I've just spent some time going through my 'Journey Through Time' and I'm really sorry but in 1983 every single omega was either: 1) A Speedmaster 2) Revolting 3) Quartz 4) Revolting and Quartz Seriously, every family is awful. 78-70 some lovely watches, 86 onwards, some good stuff; everything in the middle is like a watch parody. IMO, the best of a bad bunch are all quartz and are here, from 82. Let me know if you want details on any. If you can find one it probably won't be out of budget.... you might want to rethink the Polaris above... I can only assume this terrible state of affairs was caused by a combination of terrible fashions, the quartz crisis and terrible fashions....
This is your 30 year old brother we are talking about......buy a nice watch for yourself and get him drunk and a lap dance at the strip club for Chris'sakes!
It sure is very ..... special. I wear from time to time the chrono auto from the same line, but I admit that I probably am the only one to like it!
You'd be surprised about how loyal the Titane fan club is. The membership isn't huge, but there are a few guys around who really dig them.
I actually think that the 1983 black chromium-plated case, SR 396.0975 - Seamaster 120 "Calypso III" - is a pretty sharp and interesting vintage Omega, though quartz. The problem would be finding and affording one in a hurry.
