    Hey you guys!

I'm very new to watch enthusiasm and Omega struck a cord.

I've just bought an Omega on ebay and I am stuck on trying to find concrete information on this piece.

So all of the info I have:
Refinished Dial (Is this bad? (how bad?))
    Case number 12994
    Serial number 10434970 (1994)
    Movement is 14K gold filled

Is there a chance any of these parts at all are original? I got this at good price and I have ordered the parts to fix it. I intend to wear this watch as I love the look of it.

I will set up all my questions with number so people with knowledge and will to help can better referance them.

    1. These lugs seem very unsual, I have not found them anywhere else on the web. Is it correct these would be considered spider lugs?
    2. I have not found this number font on any other omegas except on one stopwatch with similar font somewhere online, is it completely out of sync?
    3. what does L&K mean?
    4. Is this watch worth anything or is it a "frankenwatch"?
    5. Does anyone know the reference number on this piece?
    6. Is it worth it to have omega look it up in their files?
    7. Is it a R17.8SC?
    8. How can I decipher the five digit case code?
    9. Does the blue second sweep indicate army origins?
    10. Is it unusual to have the case stamped with the words "filled"?
    11. Would this be considered a 30mm or does the 29.7 stand?

I do not have the watch in my hands yet as it is in transit so these pictures is all I have to go on as of yet.

    All help is much appreciated!

    Kind regards,

    Jökull

    Hi and welcome -

    1. These lugs seem very unsual, I have not found them anywhere else on the web. Is it correct these would be considered spider lugs? - Actually not a terribly uncommon US Omega case, more of a teardrop lug.
    2. I have not found this number font on any other omegas except on one stopwatch with similar font somewhere online, is it completely out of sync? - Yes.
    3. what does L&K mean? - Lutringer & Kammerer, a watch case maker which was located in New York City.
    4. Is this watch worth anything or is it a "frankenwatch"? - Define anything.
    5. Does anyone know the reference number on this piece? - No, US made cases from this period rarely have reference numbers.
    6. Is it worth it to have omega look it up in their files? - No.
    7. Is it a R17.8SC? - Yes.
    8. How can I decipher the five digit case code? - Nothing to be deciphered.
    9. Does the blue second sweep indicate army origins? - No.
    10. Is it unusual to have the case stamped with the words "filled"? - No, very common particularly for US cases.
    11. Would this be considered a 30mm or does the 29.7 stand? - 29.7mm is really close to 30.

BTW - Serial number dates to ca 1948/9.

Thanks for the quick answers Mr. XJR

    I really appreciate this!

Okay, so its a non reference number non original omega case,

will there be any way at all to determine the look of the original dial?

what does this indicate for potential worth on this piece?

I payed 200 for it upfront and 100 in parts, both have yet to arrive.

It needs labour and a new strap so I expect it to be near 400-500 when serviced and ready.

Is that way to much for this piece?

That is incorrect. The case is most certainly original Omega. It was simply made in the USA to Omega’s specifications in order to avoid some customs taxes. That was a very common practice prior to 1980.

There probably was a case reference number. It would have been used only in an American Omega catalog of the 1940’s.

I think you paid a high retail price for that watch.

    Hope this helps,
