Vintage Omega 1332

Since a while i'm owning a vintage omega 1332. I received the Omega, but i'm not sure about the authenticity. At first glance, after reading some articles on internet and here, I was sure it was genuine. But I quickly discovered that the straps were not genuine, and were breaking apart.

I'm not a collector but i'm very impressed when I see an Omega watch. But i only have seen them online and not offline, which makes me very inexperienced at checking the authenticity.

As for the Dial, I started to doubt the authenticity. I couldn't find anything about the dial, only that it has a number on the back which is 1332.

Dial: looks good and has some detail, but the logo is printed on the dial
Sound: the Omega doesn't have a sound, which I read is a good sign
Glass: some deep scratches
Date window: looks centered

I have no documents and/or box. I'm hoping to find some answers here about this watch. Is there someone who could tell me more about this watch and it's authenticity?

Excuse my inexperience

1332 is just the movement number, not the watch model. It's one of the last in house quartz push button movements I think. It looks perfectly legit to me and is likely from the early 1980s at a guess but as noted above, the case number will be stamped on the inner case back. It is at the bottom end of the Omega value spectrum and if anything goes wrong with the movement bar the battery, it will be uneconomical to fix so hopefully it is running OK. It was from a time when Omega was at a very low ebb and suffering an existential threat, just before Hayek took over and turned it around.

133x Is from the mid 1970s. The case-side push-button was moved to the crown for the replacement 134x series of the late 1970s to 1980 (from Ranfft). I can hear my 1342 but it is very quiet.

To @omenomega-78 do not worry about the strap, they all go like that, but do keep hold of the buckle if it has an Omega logo -- you'll need it for the replacement strap. As @padders says it's not valuable but if you like it then just wear it! Hey if your "78" is the year you were born you can just about claim it as a birth-year watch 😎

Man, @padders and @MRC thank you very much for you highly interesting feedback. It gets me more fan of the watch, and of the community.

@MRC Perfe - i'm pretty cool with that idea 😀 Thanks gents, makes my night.

I did make a screenshot from the insdie. Looks good? Is there a way to check a serial? Is there any serial?

The serial number is on the back sticker on the movement between the battery and coil. Its in 2 parts, the top is 2 digits, something like 44, then there are another 6 digits. That would indicate roughly 1980-82 as I suspected above. The case number which identifies the model is behind the paper sticker and stamped in to the inner back.

Dial is most likely original, I've seen this style numerous times - there are one of a kind original dials on these Quartz models as well, most of the variants aren't online

Watch/caseback etc. all look great, and it's not a big deal if the leather isn't original

It is logical to assume the 1332 movement preceded the mid-late 70s 1342 movement, but I don't actually think it did. You find the 1332 on early 80s pieces like this, the 1342 is seen earlier and if you compare them looks rather less integrated with visible soldering and plastic ICs. The one shown here is rather more elegant, the 1342 by comparison looks like something done in a college electronics lab. The Beta 21 that came before looks even worse!

Very helpful comments, thank you very much gents!

I like reading about this model. I will not worry about the straps to much, however, would there be a place where they sell the buckle for this model, or is this all the same?

The serial code is between the battery and the coil i see. Is there a way I can check this serial with a good website or database? Would it be helpful to share this?

Thanks everyone, great input
