Among my project watches I have a Movado Sport, kind of looking from 40-50s, 35 mm case. Dial has a hefty radium burn (?) but still has some appeal to me. Question is : Is it worth trying to get this going again. I ve no idea of parts availability for this brand from this era. I've already had one watchmaker turn it down... Can't open I'm afraid to show the movement. Any help is appreciated
Depends on how much... Can prob find a donor movt. Great looking dial. Is that a Longines behind it???
Hehe, the JLC is interesting but I have that under control sort of, it's running, needs a service, a new crystal and a hand relume and it should be ready to wear, I also know approximately how much I could put into that one. Movado is unknown territory for me.
Moneywise its not worth it, I mean with the costs and all. Movado chronographs and complications are where the money is.
Yes I have noticed that , partly why I asked cause I didnt know if had affcted other models. I had this "classified" as generic swiss until fairly recently
Its a struggle but I try to keep the numbers of watches down, then the costs for the watchmaker also are manageable. 35mm is a good size, Movado has made alot of 30mm watches that not draws any interest today.
I've failed miserably at that. Most of my watches are worth less than the service costs. So I'd say to the OP, if you like it and would wear it, then service it and come join me on the wrong side of the value equation.
You are right, we should all get healthier on the "wild" side of the value equation. Remember that price doesn't equal value and so on.
