Hello there, I'm looking for a vintage memovox and i found this on eBay. The seller mentions that this watch is from 1966 but he says the crowns are the correct unsigned crowns

I've done a little snooping and the general consensus seems to indicate that memovox produced after 1960s have signed crowns.

I'm just wondering if the seller is wrong or there could be exceptions to that consensus? Or that maybe I've not done enough researching. Thanks in advance

I believe that most from the early '60s on will be signed, but there are many anomalies in JLC. Shape and size are consistent with the unsigned crowns I have seen, are proportional to the watch, so IMO they are OK. I followed this seller pretty closely for a while, though not lately, and have bought from him once before. If you cut through his florid style & puffery, the actual descriptions of watch and condition are accurate so far as I have noticed. Looks like a pretty nice example, though I am not personally a fan of gold-filled watches.

    Thanks for chipping in Darlinboy!

I've not seen many memovox with this style of crown so I was a little unsure. Most of the crowns on memovoxs I've seen are relatively flat (like yours, signed or unsigned) rather than dome shaped (might be just the angle of the seller's photos but the crowns look rounder and bigger).

I'm not too sure what's the normal duration for transition but I thought 6 years was a little too long for it isn't it(1960s-1966)? Or am I wrong to think that way?

Well, if you have any doubt at all or can't accept that it might be incorrect, I've found it is best to pass. Even those small doubts can eat at your enjoyment of the watch.
