Looking for replacement straps for Vintage Omega Seamaster's & Constellation from the 1950-60's. I assume that most where fitted with 18mm straps that tapered to 14mm Buckles. Is that correct or did they tapper to 16mm buckles?

These are the only strap I have found. Not exactly top of the line. Any one know of some one making them out of exotics materials? Like gator, lizard, shark and/or alligator? http://www.basandlokes.com/view-all-watch-straps/ make some at least expense of if not nice leather watch straps (have not seen them in person) but they only do 18mm to 16mm buckle.
These at picture of $4.00-4$20.00 USD watch straps ebay and https://www.esslinger.com/watch-band-18-mm-dark-brown-calfskin-leather-lizard-grain/

My question really focus on the tapper of the band and what was used by Omega on their 18mm lugged men's watches and then where to buy Tapered bands. But thank you non the less.:)

    Try this seller:

    http://www.timesofplenty.com/

On the Vintage Constellations, there were generally 18mm (some were 19mm) tapering to 16mm buckles.

A 14mm buckle would have been used for some of the smaller (boys size - 30 to 32mm) and/or very thin Omega models, not Constellations.

I feel your pain on the tapered straps. I have a older LeCoultre that has 19mm lugs tapering down to a 13mm original 18K signed buckle. Haven’t been able to find one of those yet.

    Good luck,

I didn’t think Keleran shipped anything outside the USA. There may be issues with CITES laws on exotic leathers.

Actually, it's that horrid Global Shipping program.
    This is not exotic leather:

I had two shipped to a member in the US and then posted to me for a tenth of the GSP cost.

And although mine were only calf leather, the seller was a bit upset that I had mentioned "Australia" in my feedback and replied that they had never sent anything to Australia.

It’s the paperwork, more than anything else. Burden of proof is on the shipper.

I just send things to my forwarding address in the States and then consolidate shipping to Australia. AFAIK no US sellers have said no to me on eBay for shipping there.

I've had a pack of crocodile-style leather straps come in that way...

    Got it, thanks for explaining.

@JimInOz I try not to ask US friends for favors unless it's a really serious item or I know I'm going to see them very soon. I'm talking non watch buffs though...

    Hi DG GW;

You might enjoy wearing these straps. I've tried a few from the ebay seller and they look quite nice and are very sturdy and comfortable. They appear to closely resemble the straps seen in ads from the late 1940s through the 1950s for several brands of watches. The cognac and black are the only two colors the ebay seller offers. The strap they are calling cognac is brighter than is my notion of that hue. I would like to find other sources for straps of this style in more colors.

    Here's one on a late '40s Longines.

What a great post @noelekal, those ads are so nice and those straps you found so similar to the original ones!
Beautiful Longines once again, dibs if I forgot to say it but I know you won’t sell it ;)

I wear my Constellation with a few different configurations - a 'Beads of Rice' bracelet with the smaller rectangular links, black alligator with an Omega folding clasp (stamped 'No. 27', I'm unsure if this means anything to anyone here, but I've never seen another like it), a brown calfskin with a vintage Omega tang buckle, and it's presently on a generic Milanese mesh bracelet fitted with a modern OEM Omega tang buckle.

I love vintage pigskin straps but they can be hard to find in good condition and the correct size.
