So this was a missed opportunity, a watch that sold around a month ago on eBay with a buy it now price of 230USD. I'm not sure why I hesitated, perhaps because the size wasn't declared, or perhaps because I couldn't see any external hallmarks, or perhaps because 14k made me think it was not a Swiss made case, but I decided after five minutes to buy it but by then it had gone. There were no extra clues in the description which were little more than "14K gold vintage Longines watch..."

So it's been on my mind since then... can I ask for opinions on it ?

And did anyone here buy it from under my nose !

It seems a Borgel/Taubert case and I did not know Longines used that type of case, anyway a small watch

Very interesting. Agree with @mario linus re. the size. When looking at the stubby hands, I'd put the diameter at around 31mm.

Looks suspiciously like a Movado case. I wonder if the dial and movement could have been re-cased?

    It looks steel? Really?

Not to my eye, and hard to believe that the seller would state "14k" if it were steel.

Yeah I take that back ::shy::

I hadn't revisited the listing until today and the contrast on my iPad was perhaps misleading. The annoying thing is that the seller must have had the back off to state it was 14k, but didn't include a movement shot or inside case-back shot.

Some US market watch cases are marked on the edge of the caseback or between the lugs.

If it was solid 14K, the seller missed out on 50% of the value.

In my expert opinion, it's an American produced case, probably Wadsworth... :whistling:
