I haven't seen this configuration before (not that I've seen any of these chronometers often). Thoughts? Are the hands original? Is the face an older refinish? Price will end sky-high, I'm sure. http://www.ebay.de/itm/201145655309?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Color me skeptical of the dial's originality - but not all the way to doubtful. Something looks off about the SWISS MADE and the north / south crosshair. Neat hacking feature, huh? Looks like Death's sickle.
Is this a cal P478/BWSBr? Looks like the one in this picture, though the seller's picture is too blurry to see anything to the right of 'P478'. If it is, then its truly a chronometer. Hmm, was this a E168 Geophysic? The pictures in Zaf Basha's book show a dial with just arabic '12' and '6', but apparently there was a version produced which had crosshairs, and arabic 3,6,9,12, plus crosshairs. The description in the link above seems to fit this watch, which would make this a rather rare crosshair vintage Geophysic, according to another source, but it may also mean that the hands are wrong.
I believe that's a real Geophysic . JLC has released 800 SS Geophysic re edition recently with the same configuration . http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-m8LDY2WWV...LeCoultre+Geophysic®+1958+Stainless+Steel.jpg
