    Pictures updated 18Oct2018.

    Hi all.

I recently developed a fascination for vintage mechanical watches and acquired “an Omega ladies 14k white gold, cal 485, 17 jewel, manual wind watch”. I have been scouring the internet and found only one other watch like it in yellow gold. I stumbled onto this forum when I Googled to see what fake Omega watch looks like. It is amazing to see the vast array of vintage fake men watches but I haven’t seen many ladies fake watches posted in this forum.

Anyhow, I know nothing about it other than the what the markings say. It looks authentic and the physical condition looks great. The only problem that is immediately apparent is the back case is loose. I was hoping someone can help me identify whether it is authentic and what model it is. I am a newbie to manual winding mechanical watches, so I am still getting a feel for winding the crown and testing the charge/duration of time accuracy. Anyhow, below are some pictures from the listing... Many thanks for the help.

Watch companies are often represented by wholly owned subsidiaries of the manufacturer, or by an agent in some countries. Catalogs often show only core watches that will be available while the catalog is current. Some core models may be shown in successive catalogs, until the style is discontinued. Not every model a watch company produces will show up in every catalog in every country where the line is sold. Watches that are not core models, or otherwise have a short life expectation, or might be produced to suit the tastes of a particular region may never be shown in catalogs. In other words, these catalogs simply are never totally conmprehensive. You likely will never see the subject watch in an Omega catalog. As to the case. Before I comment on what it is made of, I would prefer to see much better pictures of the marks inside the case back. If the markings indicate 14-karat gold, the case was not likely made in Switzerland. The mechanism is Omega. I find it odd that a karat gold case would have a plated bracelet.

    US market watch.

    Model number shown here.

As already noted, finding any additional information is unlikely.

That is exactly how I found the 14kt gold version, searched for Omega AA5844. Since you didn’t flat out say fake, can I assume it is authentic? Thanks

New pictures posted but I am afraid when it was uploaded, some of the resolution was lost. Particularly for the movement itself. The case says “OMEGA WATCH Co”, “14KT (makers mark? Cursive LS or Lg in a circle) GOLD”, and “AA5844 59293”. Thanks.

Yes, quite authentic. Serial number on the movement dates to ca 1970/71.
