Most likely genuine, I don't think there is a lot of info on these ladies watches. Dial has been refinished but it's a cool piece. 馃榾

thanks - and for my continuing education, can you tell me how you know the dial has been refinished? I know it reduces value a touch, and I'd like to be able to spot it!

A nice watch, the refinished dial (too fresh for its age) doesn't detract from the value as these are not really collectible watches.
If you're happy with the price and the watch, just "dooit"

馃榾 any ideas on value? it's about UK拢2.5, which seems quite high if it's not collectible..... not averse to spending money and she likes it, but not if it's not worth about that.....

If you're going to spend that much, a dedicated Rolex forum would be the best place to seek advice.

The dial may be original, but the rest of the watch doesn't gell, a bit too polished maybe?

I'd say it's a "restoration".

I'm no Rolex authority (far from it) but these are just my opinions.

That's certainly too high IMO. Unlike Rolex Sport, vintage Rolex dress watch seldom fetch premium price. Especially the dress watch.
I bought this ladies' Rolex with diamonds for my wife for little less than USD 2K. I would say yours probably will fetch half of that on open market.

BTW servicing the movement is pain in the ass (that's quotation from my watchmaker ... I have to pay 50% premium over regular service price)

Is that a tooth missing from the large cog ?

Actually, based on downloading the photo and blowing it up on my screen, I think the tooth on the ratchet wheel is there, but it is either very dirty or has a bit of corrosion on it...

What concerns me more is the fact that I doubt most of the movement is from Rolex. At this time Rolex used movements from suppliers, and considering the finish on the wheel train bridge (which is marked Rolex) is completely different than the bridges on the remainder of the watch, I'm guessing only that bridge is from a movement touched by Rolex. The other bridges are not just missing plating, but have a straight grain finish applied, where the wheel train bridge appears to be more polished, with no visible graining on it.

Based on this alone, I would pass.

Cheers, Al

Al,
many thanks. So your saying that although Rolex used movements from suppliers, this may well be a later replacement movement that has not gone through Rolex, with just the wheel train bridge carried over?

I see the corrosion, and tend to agree that the price is quite high. He's now at 拢2k.....

(and glad your still here to pass on your wisdom to us newbies 馃榾)

Yes - exactly. Could be that the original movement was damaged, and they found a donor movement, and just replaced the single bridge.
