Hamilton purchased Bruen in the late 1960’s. This thrust them into the relationship with Heuer, Breitling and Dubois Depraz on creating the 1st automatic chronograph, the Calibre 11, with distinctive crown on the left. This was launched in March of 1969 and widely used on Heuer & Breitling models thru the late 1970’s (as the cal.11, cal 11i, cal.12, cal.14 & cal.15). Hamilton/Bruen’s Internatic with its micro-rotor was the base for this historical movement. From the Hamilton perspective, it can be found in the Chronomatic, Pan-Europe and Fontainebleau models. These models can be found for sale on and off, and run betteren $2000 - $5000 depending on model and condition. Here is my 1969 Hamilton Chronomatic (Cal.11) on original steel bracelet :
Hamilton also made a range of European models. These were Swiss made, and typically had model Number such as 640XX-X. Here is a rare Ca. 1968 Hamilton 600 Broad Arrow Diver Ref. 64034-3 - cal. 64A. This ones a Unicorn, and I was lucky enough to also find original bracelet as shown.
Another Hamilton 600 is the more commonly seen Super Compressor. Same Cal.64 based movement. You should be able to find a nice example around $1200 or so. This is not mine but a pic from Google Images for reference:
Best thing to do is Google and check out images, movements, and styles you like. Once you drill down to specific areas of interest, the fun starts with the “hunt”.
Good luck and I’m sure is Hamilton fans look forward to your future posts with new acquisitions!
