Bought this in 2013 - but this is only the second time I use it - I believe. It just sort of got forgotten (I do have too many watches...). All the talk of the modern Globemaster made me think of it. Seen two like it on the net. The dial is very nice and pictures do it no justice. I have not opened it yet but I believe there is a cal 501 inside and from what I have heard the case is US made. Condition is almost like new. New strap for the day. Any more out there?
Yes. Because of a trademark dispute over the name "constellation" with Lockhead Martin https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_L-1049_Super_Constellation
Not exactly. Better to read this by @mondodec http://users.tpg.com.au/mondodec//Globemasterpost.pdf @styggpyggeno1's example is the 2nd generation Globemaster, made in the late 1950's after the Constellation name settlement with Lockheed and TWA. These had older automatic (cal. 491/501) and manual wind movements (cal. 520) that were being phased out by Omega. The original Globemasters, which were identical to the original Constellations case references, may be seen in the article and also here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/constellation-early-us-version.36377/ Hope this helps, gatorcpa
If this is the one you kind-of, sort-of forgot for the last 2-3 years, what in the world catches your attention?!? Thank you for sharing the picture. I've read the stories and repeated them to others. I've never seen one labelled Globemaster though (other than the METAS one). Fabulous.
