    Hi OF,

This Flightmaster is in a local UK auction, I'm not especially familiar with them other than some cursory internet reading (cal 911 I believe). There's a receipt for a service in 2013 where the crown and glass were replaced. Clearly it's not in great condition but anyone care to throw an estimate...? I'm thinking £1500 after fees and premiums would be about my max...?

    Cheers,

That would make it incredibly cheap... I think it might be more likely to sell over £1500 plus fees.

It’s a quiet auction house and is one of only four watches in nearly four hundred random lots, I don’t think it’ll get too many bidders (famous last words). My issue is that if there’s one thing I’ve learned buying vintage is condition is everything and this is just a little too beat up. Maybe I’ll go and check it is actually in good working order and make an absentee bid if it feels right.

If the watch is on the saleroom then the size of the auction house doesn’t matter. Have you asked for any additional photos?

I haven’t but it’s local so I’ll pop down in the next couple of days and see for myself. It’s nice but I won’t cry if I miss out.

I don't think it is in bad condition. The edges have dings, but otherwise are sharp. All surfaces have normal striations. Dial & hands look good. It will clean up well, I think.

My flighty is even more beat up than this and it is my favorite watch - largely because of its scars.

I've just realised what you meant by 'on the saleroom', I wasn't aware this auction house had entered the 21st century, yes it will be online in due course. I've picked up some great bargains there over the years, let others have a turn. Consider this a heads up I guess - Amersham Auction Rooms, lot 294 auction is 6th September.

Don’t think it’s for auction until the 6th?

Bumping in the interest of completion, I was run off my feet today and didn’t even get the chance to get an absentee bid sorted. Which made it all the more painful when I checked up this evening. Hope it went to someone here!

@inchpincher Someone got a good price - I was watching the lot and going to sort a bid but it had a good few watchers I thought it would at least hit lower estimate!

I bid, and my bid was rejected by the saleroom's shitty website... so I'm a little gutted too...

Some auction houses don't always mark 'passed' or unsold lot, they simply put down what the last price it went up to was.

My guess is, it had a reserve and probably is still available for an after sale offer for whoever is interested . I would contact the auction house to see if it is still available, that way you will be sure.
